[He's still learning to cook, so complex recipes are a little shaky for him, but this sounds like something fun to make.]

Sure! Lemme just do like, a test batch or two first. Just so I know what I'm doing first. It involves a lot of hot oil, which can be kinda scary to cook with at times.

[apuckalypse]

Oh- yeah, I haven't done that much yet with oil. Bacon is great but it's a little nerve-wracking, the way it pops.

[He's had little droplet burns a few times already. Dangerous work, when food attacks you.]

I'll see if I can do an oven only version too. See if that would work better. [He loves a good science, and Casey is giving him that chance.] If it is, we can make it way faster with less popping.

[apuckalypse]

I'll follow your lead, since I have no idea what I'm doing.

[He's in your hands and at your mercy, Parker. Be gentle.]

I'm going by memory, so, I think we're both in for fun time. [Peter muses with a snort and shake of his head.

Spider bot just beeps helpfully from its spot upon Casey's shoulder, still attempting to slowly play with the teenager's hair.]

Could there be a recipe somewhere? Like at the library, or...

[He trails off, losing steam in his claim. He's still new to libraries, so he doesn't know if cookbooks count as valid reading material.

He gives the spider bot an idle pat again, amused that it's so fascinated with his hair. Better that than tackling him at least?]

Maybe? [He hadn't thought to really look at the library since its such a niche feeling thing for a place flush with magic.] It's... a cultural food. Like, you'd make it at a certain time of year. I don't know how many books about Jewish food would be here.

It is worth a shot though at least.

Well, yeah. Asking's free.

[Worst case scenario, they'll just tell him no.]

...Think I've won over the robot yet?

You say that, but I can promise I'll probably get lost in the library wanting to read everything. [Peter jokes idly back.

He does laugh a little at the question. His gaze lands on the spiderbot who is trying to wiggle under Casey's hair to look like it has hair.]

Oh, just maybe.

[apuckalypse]

[Casey lifts a section of his hair, then drops it back down on the bot, teasing playfully.]

That's what keeps happening when I visit the library. I have to force myself to go home or I'd try to sleep there. I never knew so many books could even exist.

[heyunderoos]

[Spider bot beeps in a tone that can be read as happy as it tries to hold the hair in place.]

If you think about it, there should almost be infinite book here, right? This is a hub world, so many people from so many different worlds and time periods end up here. So you never know what's actually there

[He might die for this goddamn robot now.]

I've kind of wondered where all the books come from. But if Thirteen can summon people from all over, no reason why she can't summon books too.

[Spider bot remains oblivious to Casey's dedication, just trying to wiggle deeper into his hair and beep boops a song it vaguely knows.]

It makes hub worlds exciting, because unlimited possibilities apply to what you can learn too.

It really does... do you have any book recommendations? Stuff you liked from Earth, or anything else you've found.

I dunno if you can find these books but- [Unfortunate news, Casey Jones Jr, Peter is rattling off a list of very nerdy niche scifi novels. He has a lot of suggestions when it comes to that genre.]

[Casey nods along, fishing out his relic so he can take note of some of those titles. At the mention of them being sci-fi, he perks up.]

Oh, Hunter and I have been reading some of those! We're working through a series he found, we just hit book 2. They're really good.

[heyunderoos]

[The spider bot on Casey's shoulder is reaching out to try and peek at the relic.]

Oh! That's cool, what is the book series like so far? I'm glad you guys are reading something really fun.

[apuckalypse]

[Once Casey notices, he tilts his relic towards the bot. Sure, buddy, you can stalk his Notes app.]

It's pretty cool. It's about a group of explorers that go from planet to planet, discovering what's never been seen before, meeting new aliens, getting into trouble. The characters are fun.

[It's basically rebranded Star Trek, not that he knows what that is.]

[Spider bot is reading everything very intently, and by reading its just taking in words with no idea what anything means! It boops softly, eyes blinking red and blue.

That explanation sure sounds like Star Trek, but, Peter errs on not mentioning that.] Oh, I love that kind of story, it means so many cool things can happen and it doesn't really ever get dull.

Do you guys have any favorite characters so far?

[apuckalypse]

I really like Captain Hezal. She's super heroic and charismatic, but she's always getting herself into trouble.

[Unsurprisingly, very sensei-esque.]

And I won't speak for Hunter, but I think he's rooting for the head engineer, Teve Walker. He's very mysterious. And yeah, the story's so interesting! Every planet is different, so it's unpredictable.

That's always a really fun kind of character to follow in a story. They make every new adventure really exciting. [Given Peter is dating someone like this, its equally unsurprising he's compelled by this kind of personality.] Hopefully the books dig deeper into Teve Walker's backstory soon. Depends honestly on how many books there are in the series.

Did you guys have a favorite planet they visited-?

I should probably check out that book series too, give me something else to do when I'm not working or patrolling.

Well... we're only on book 2, but I really liked Vinci. It's covered in coral flowers, and the life forms are sentient bioluminescents. The cover alone is gorgeous, really makes me wish I could paint better.

[It's inspiring some beautiful landscapes in his mind, mostly because he's never seen anything that could compare in real life.]

Oh, but anything else I could say would be spoilers. Since we finished the first book, I'll ask if Hunter minds if I can pass it over to you.

Oh wow, that does sound really pretty. [Peter perks up a little, his own imagination running wild with even the slight description Casey has given him.]

Yeah, only if you guys wanna lend it. I can probably find my own copies too, especially if its like a long running series.

It's not really ours to lend, it's from the library. As long as it goes back in time I don't think it matters who has it.

[Libraries are a new-ish concept for him, but this doesn't seem like a big deal. It's not like they don't know where Peter lives.]

I haven't checked how many books there are... I hope lots, though. It's really good.
